DISCUSSION: Introduction to the New Economic Development Director Lauren Highfill. Lauren has a history of working with the Red Cross, in legal business, worked in Los Angeles. She more recently worked for the city of West Concord, MN. She would like to work with the municipalities closer. Wants to know what is important to the Village and what key economic priorities we have. There will be a Networking event on February 19, 2025 5:15pm. The meeting will take place in River Falls, WI at Chippewa Tech College. She would like to see several people from the Village Attend this event. Pierce County Economic Development is a non-profit, they will help with many areas, grants and loans.
PUBLIC WORKS: Chris has worked on obtaining bids for some of the projects that need to be completed. He received bids for the electrical in the campground on the water side, all new wire will have to be used in the water side. If we are updating, we will have waterproof boxes and wire and will include all new post and pedestals. The board made motions on the electrical and the tree removal. Chris also reported that he and Jeff were able to work on the blowers at the ponds and install what needed to be installed which saved the village money on someone having to come out and do the work. The new blades have been put on the Ford snowplow, both Jeff and Chris installed them. Rural Water was down to discuss the well drilling, their thought are that we should drill a well that is not as deep as our other one, that is based on the data received from how deep the Dollar General well is and what their nitrate levels are. He felt that if we could get a substantial amount from a shallower well and then mix the water from our existing well our numbers would be in a much safer range. The village will be in discussions with Davy Engineering on these findings.
